iterating exhibition
|
In mathematics, an iterating equation is one in which the result is fed back into the equation, and the result of that is fed back in, ad infinitum. This is the way fractal images are formed. Stage One was the compilation of information about iteration from a variety of sources, publicising the show, and sending out invitations. Stage Two was to do an interactive performance of installing the exhibition. The performance involved encouraging members of the audience to become part of the performance by giving them video and stills cameras with which to record the performance event. All of this documentation then also became part of the exhibition, with photos being stuck to the walls to be re-photographed as the performance progressed. For the duration of the exhibition, a cctv camera was left recording so that anyone who came to view the show also became part of the show. Stage Three was to publicise stage four and send out invitations. Stage Four was to put the exhibition on in another venue so that the whole of the documentation from the first three stages becomes the raw material from which the exhibition continues to iterate during the opening performance. Stage Five was to create a web document. |
